About PENN Aquatics

For the last 42 years, PENN Aquatics has been a unique local swimming and diving club. Our quality swimming and diving instructional programs build self-confidence, self discipline, motivation, integrity and courage for life.

Our Mission:

  • Foster participation, develop good sportsmanship, team spirit, build self confidence and help our young athletes improve both their swimming and diving skills
  • Provide our members an opportunity for personal growth both as an individual and as a team member
  • Provide voluntary support for competitive swimming and diving programs, including executive and administrative officers, meet officials, and and other appointees for all relevant club tasks
  • Promote and foster a clear understanding of the responsibilities of parents, swimmers, divers, and coaches as they relate to the operation of the club
  • Engage in fund raising activities for the purpose of providing Penn Aquatics and it's membership with the necessary equipment, materials and instruction
  • Train officials and provide other trained personnel, in order to conduct regular season, championship and invitational meets in a fair, impartial and responsible manner.

Our Vision:

  • PENN Aquatics strives locally for the growth and excellence of competitive swimming and diving within USA Swimming and the Suburban Aquatic League.  On a national level, our goal is to become a Recognized Club by USA Swimming.

Bylaws: The PENN Aquatics board and trustees operate within guidance of the bylaws.  Bylaws may be updated as necessary.  The most recent bylaws have been updated in January of 2012.  Click to view the bylaws.  Here is our organizational structure.

New Swimmer Evaluations: Coaches will conduct a “skills evaluation”, at the beginning of the season, usually the middle of September.  at the Medill Sports Complex Pool (Pennsbury HS Field House and Pool) Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania.  This will be for new members looking to join our program. After the evaluation, placement recommendations will be discussed with parents and/or the swimmer. Swimmers will be placed in different age groups for practice purposes to insure that our instruction matches their needs. Final authority for all decisions rests with the Head Coach.

Training Facilities: PENN Aquatics utilizes the Pennwood Middle School (Pennwood) and Medill Blair Sports Complex located at Pennsbury High School East (Pennsbury). Each facility has a 6 lane 25 yard pool and is easily accessible from the major roadways. Please refer to the Practice Schedule for pool assignments, practice days and times.

Membership Requirements: We encourage participation by swimmers and divers ages 5 and older of all ability levels who have met our minimum requirements and been approved by our head coach. PENN Aquatics flexible membership design allows individuals to select programs that best meet their desires, needs and skill level. Our objective is to see all our members succeed by achieving their goals in a fun and competitive learning environment.

Minimum Requirements: With the exception of our Learn to Swim program, all new swimmers and divers must be capable of swimming 25 yards of both freestyle (crawl) and backstroke in order to be considered for a competitive swimming spot on the team. Learn to Swim programs are offered so no one is left out of our program. As your swimmer develops, he or she can move up during the course of the season. Should a swimmer graduate to a more advanced level program than initially registered for, an up-charge may be applied.
